On August 15, 2014, rapper J. Cole released, “Be Free”, a tribute to 18 year old Michael Brown. The teen was shot and killed by a police officer in Ferguson, MO. J. Cole stated that this emotion-filled song was not only a tribute to Michael Brown, but it was also a tribute to every young black man murdered in America.
