Killer Mike Shares Thoughts on Chaos in Ferguson


On August 19, 2014, rapper Killer Mike addressed the events in Ferguson, surrounding 18-year old Michael Brown’s death, in a Billboard article. Killer Mike points out how police officers in Ferguson, MO. have used tanks, rubber bullets and tear gas against the citizens that pay them to protect and serve. He warns Americans, “Whatever this country is willing to do to the least of us, it will one day do to us all.”

David Banner Appears on CNN Panel



On August 12, 2014, David Banner appeared on a CNN panel led by Don Lemon, to discuss violence against black teens with Charles Blow, Sunny Hostin. The panelists spoke on the conversations that many African American and Latino parents have with their sons about racial profiling. David Banner discussed some of his tweets, regarding police and the value of black life.

Talib Kweli joins Dream Defenders in #TakeOverFL Protest

Always a well respected and looked to voice and forward thinker of the culture, Talib Kweli  joined the Dream Defenders the continuing protest of Florida’s ‘Stand Your Ground’ law in person and online on social media websites under the hash tag #TakeOverFL.  The sit-in in the Tallahassee began on July 16th, 2013 and has continued to grow in strength, size and momentum drawing support from Harry Belafonte, Jesse Jackson, Biko Baker and more.  The Dream Defender platform is actually three-fold which Kweli re-iterated on MSNBC when being interviewed by Craig Melvin.

The Dream Defenders movement wants the Stand Your Ground law repealed, racial profiling banned, and for state legislators to review zero tolerance policies in schools.
